Dear friends of Book Arts and previous participants of the Festival,
Given the time of year I would love to be able to send you all good news, but unfortunately that's not possible. Having received answers to all our applications for funding for the 2014 Festival we have unfortunately been unsuccessful. This means that we are unable to host what would have been: Doverodde International Book Arts Festival V & Symposium – 2014. So it is with great sadness that we have to formally cancel the event, despite some significant early planning that we had already begun to discuss – a 5th event was something we were looking forward to hosting.
At this point we are unable to say when we may host another Festival given that funding does play a key role.
The good news however is that after last year's fruitful visit from Nancy Campbell (www.nancycampbell.co.uk) we will be continuing our artist-in-residence programme. British painter and librarian Linda Newington (www.lindanewington.com) from Winchester will join us for the month of May 2014. During this time she will run a public workshop on the use of watercolour in expressing landscape and also deliver a lecture presenting her work at a public event at the Limfjordscentret. On this occasion she will also talk about her private collection of Artists' Books.
We also still hope to host an exhibition of Book Arts by Nordic book artists as was part of our original plans. We have confirmation of collaboration and will be in further discussion with the Nordic artists group: CON-TEXT and a newly-established group from Bergen, Norway: B-Open bokkunst lesersirkel. We will release further information in due course and the intended dates remain: May 6th - June 22nd.

Thank you all so much for all of your support over the last few years. Without the participation, interest and wonderful work of those of you who have supported the events at Doverodde it would not have been as enjoyable as it was. We wish you all a brilliant bookish Christmas and a page-turning New Year.
Season’s greetings and very best wishes
