It's been a while...

Where does the time go?  Instead of weeks it has been months since photos from the 2014 fair should have been uploaded (sorry about that), but at last they're there, and gradually being labelled so that people know who's who.

Looking at the photos of the marbling demonstration was a reminder of how much fun visitors and exhibitors alike had, taking their own turn at mixing colours and making marbling magic.  So you might like to know that Sue Shaw will be running a marbling course at Hot Bed Press this spring.  Places are limited, but if you would like to book yourself a place or find out more, try here.

And for anyone chasing down book arts fairs around the country, how about Counter, in Plymouth?  It should be taking place this year at the end of October.

What can you offer the person who loves book arts?  Why, more book arts of course!  And so Hot Bed Press has organised a week of courses - six of them, count them - following hard on the heels of this year's fair.  Running from Monday 20th to Sunday 26th October, there are morning courses, whole day courses, even a weekend course, and in addition Roni Gross, New York book artist (also at the fair), will be talking about 25 years of Zitouna on the Monday evening.

You can read all about them on the 'What else is on' page (each course title takes you to a booking page) or go direct to the Hot Bed Press website - the talk and all the courses will be at Hot Bed Press in Salford.

Liverpool's Artists' Book Fair - the first in the renovated Central Library

7/7/2014

Liverpool Central Library hosted the Liverpool Artists' Book Fair on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th July, in a truly British mix of endless rain (Friday) and glorious sunshine (Saturday).  The children's circular Discover library was a lovely venue for the event and I think both exhibitors and visitors enjoyed their time there.  The exhibition of artists' books old and new in the Hornby Library (which finished on Sunday 6th) was also a delight, with some works suspended above the room.

The organiser, Simon Ryder, hopes to be able to hold the fair again in 2015, .

The Leeds International Contemporary Artists' Book Fair will be taking place at its new venue, The Tetley, on Friday 7th (6-9pm), Saturday 8th (11am-6pm) and Sunday 9th March (11am-5pm), with lots of excellent exhibitors attending.  It's sure to be as good as ever.  For the last few years the fair has been in the Parkinson Court so it'll be interesting to see it in a different setting.
